Wolfpack Edge Winside to Advance in Conference Tournament
The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack earned a hard-fought 57–53 victory over the Winside Wildcats on Friday, February 6, in the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament, punching their ticket at a chance to compete for fifth place.
In a tightly contested matchup from start to finish, the Wolfpack used balanced scoring and steady defense to pull away late. After trailing 13–11 at the end of the first quarter, TCNE responded with a strong second period, outscoring Winside 15–7 to take a 26–20 lead into halftime.
Both teams traded baskets in the third quarter, with the Wolfpack maintaining their edge behind aggressive play and efficient shooting. TCNE carried a 44–36 advantage into the final frame before the Wildcats made a late push. Winside trimmed the deficit in the fourth, but the Wolfpack remained composed down the stretch, knocking down key free throws and forcing turnovers to secure the four-point win.
Landyn Servine led the way for TCNE with 15 points, adding strong effort on both ends of the floor. Logan Morgan chipped in 13 points, while Devin Reinert added 10 points and knocked down timely shots. Thatcher Lamp contributed seven points and nine rebounds, providing a physical presence in the paint, and Tucker Anderson went 4-of-6 from the free-throw line in critical moments.
As a team, the Wolfpack shot 38 percent from the field and connected on seven three-pointers. TCNE also made the most of its opportunities at the line, converting 10-of-16 free throws, which proved decisive in the closing minutes.
Defensively, the Wolfpack were active throughout, finishing with 11 steals and forcing 13 turnovers. Their rebounding effort was also key, as they controlled the glass and limited second-chance opportunities for Winside.
With the win, Tri County Northeast advances in the tournament and will now battle for fifth place, continuing their conference tourney push.
