Wolfpack Battle at Home, Fall to Walthill BluJays
The TCNE Wolfpack battled throughout four quarters but couldn’t overcome a strong offensive night from Walthill, falling 77–65 to the BluJays in a home, conference boys basketball matchup on Monday, January 26.
The game was tightly contested early, with Walthill holding a slim 21–19 edge after the first quarter. The BluJays began to create separation in the second period, outscoring the Wolfpack 16–11 to take a 37–30 lead into halftime. TCNE responded with renewed energy after the break, matching Walthill point-for-point in the third quarter at 19 apiece, but a 25-point fourth quarter by the visitors sealed the outcome.
Senior Thatcher Lamp led the Wolfpack offensively with 22 points on an efficient night from the floor, connecting on 8-of-14 two-point attempts while also pulling down nine rebounds. Landyn Servine, a junior, provided a strong presence on the boards with a team-high seven rebounds and added ten points, two assists, and two steals.
TCNE received additional contributions from several players, including Tucker Anderson, Blake Kneifl, Logan Morgan, and Jude Ridenour, who combined to provide scoring depth and defensive effort. The Wolfpack finished the night shooting 38 percent from the field and knocked down five three-pointers, while converting 58 percent of their free throws.
Despite the loss, Tri County Northeast showed resilience on the glass, outrebounding Walthill 38–23 and recording nine assists as a team. Defensively, the Wolfpack forced turnovers and stayed competitive into the second half before Walthill pulled away late.
Tri County Northeast will look to build on the positives from Monday’s contest as the Wolfpack continue their season with upcoming conference tournament action.
