Wolfpack Upset Bulldogs in L&C Tournament Opener
Tri County Northeast delivered one of its strongest performances of the season on Saturday, knocking off higher-ranked Creighton 57-45 in the opening round of the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament on Jan. 31.
The Wolfpack set the tone early and never let it slip away, using balanced scoring and a dominant effort on the boards to control the game from start to finish. After taking a 21-15 lead into halftime, TCNE came out firing in the third quarter, pouring in 23 points to build separation and put the Bulldogs on their heels.
Junior Landyn Servine led all scorers with 17 points and added eight rebounds, helping anchor a Wolfpack attack that featured contributions up and down the lineup. Tucker Anderson finished with 12 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist, while Jaxon Hall chipped in 11 points on an efficient shooting night that included three three-pointers.
Senior Thatcher Lamp made his presence felt inside, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with six points, two assists and a block. TCNE dominated the glass overall, out-rebounding Creighton 46-30, including 16 offensive rebounds that led to key second-chance points.
The Wolfpack shot 34 percent from the field and connected on 42 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc, while holding the Bulldogs to just two points in the fourth quarter. Defensively, TCNE forced Creighton into tough looks and limited scoring opportunities late to seal the upset.
Additional contributions came from Logan Morgan (four points, seven rebounds), Knox Lamp (two points, five rebounds), Jude Ridenour (four points, four rebounds), and Atlee Anderson and Devin Reinert who added energy off the bench.
With the win, TCNE advances to the second round in the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament where they will take on the 2nd ranked Randolph Cardinals Tuesday February 3rd at 7:30 pm at Randolph High School.
