TCNE Battles on the Road Against Wynot
The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack traveled to Wynot High School on January 8 to take on the Wynot Blue Devils in a varsity boys basketball matchup that tested the Wolfpack’s depth and efficiency on the road, losing 52-67.
TCNE finished the night shooting 36 percent from the field (21-of-58) and 23 percent from three-point range (8-of-35), while converting 50 percent at the free-throw line. Despite working to generate open looks, the Wolfpack struggled to consistently knock down perimeter shots, which limited their scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Junior Landyn Servine led TCNE offensively, scoring 15 points while knocking down five field goals. Knox Lamp added 10 points and was efficient inside the arc, shooting 71 percent on two-point attempts. Thatcher Lamp contributed 10 points and did much of his scoring at the free-throw line, finishing 4-of-4 from the stripe.
TCNE showed effort on the glass, pulling down 33 total rebounds, including 19 on the offensive end, which helped extend possessions. Servine and Atlee Anderson were active rebounders, while multiple players chipped in to keep the Wolfpack competitive inside.
Defensively, TCNE recorded nine steals and forced turnovers, but had difficulty turning those opportunities into points. Ball security proved to be an issue at times, as the Wolfpack committed 19 turnovers, allowing Wynot to capitalize on transition chances.
While the final result did not go TCNE’s way, the Wolfpack showed flashes of balanced scoring and aggressive rebounding that will be important as they continue conference play. TCNE will look to improve shooting efficiency and limit turnovers as they prepare for their next matchup.
