Pender’s Pressure Proves Too Much as Lady Wolfpack Fall at Home

The Tri County Northeast Lady Wolfpack ran into a tough test Tuesday night, as Pender’s defensive pressure and balanced scoring led the Lady Pendragons to a 60–17 non-conference victory on January 27.

Pender set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–2 first-quarter lead and maintaining control throughout the contest. The Lady Pendragons continued to build momentum in the second quarter, extending the margin to 33–6 at halftime, before closing strong in the second half to secure the win.

Despite the lopsided score, the Lady Wolfpack continued to compete and work for scoring opportunities against an aggressive Pender defense. Tri County Northeast struggled to find rhythm offensively, shooting 6-of-44 from the field (14 percent). The Wolfpack connected on 2-of-18 shots from three-point range (11 percent) and went 3-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Joslyn Mackling led TCNE with seven points, while Briley Anderson added four. Aubrey Mitchell chipped in three points while Samantha Rastede contributed two.

On the boards, Sam Rastede anchored the Wolfpack with nine rebounds as TCNE finished with 23 total rebounds. The Lady Wolfpack also recorded six steals and three assists but were hindered by 16 turnovers, which Pender capitalized on to create scoring opportunities.

Tri County Northeast showed steady effort throughout the night, scoring in each quarter and continuing to battle against a disciplined Pender squad that executed on both ends of the floor.

The Lady Wolfpack will look to regroup and build on the positives as they continue their season, with upcoming Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament, providing opportunities to sharpen their offense and continue developing as a team.
