Lady Wolfpack Fall to Macy in Non-Conference Test
The Tri County Northeast Lady Wolfpack faced a tough road challenge on Saturday, February 14, falling 72–31 to the Omaha Nation Chiefs in a non-conference matchup.
Playing on the Chiefs’ home court, the Lady Wolfpack battled throughout the contest but struggled to find offensive rhythm against Omaha Nation’s aggressive defense and fast-paced attack. The Chiefs built early momentum and maintained control through all four quarters.
Junior Briley Anderson led TCNE with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field, providing a steady presence inside and on the boards. Anderson also added five rebounds in the effort.
Joslyn Mackling and Aubrey Mitchell each scored six points for the Wolfpack. Mackling connected on two three-pointers, while Mitchell added a free throw and contributed on the defensive end. Maddie Franzluebbers chipped in two points, and several underclassmen gained valuable varsity experience in extended minutes.
As a team, TCNE shot 30 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc, while going 4-of-11 from the free-throw line. Rebounding remained a bright spot, with the Wolfpack pulling down 22 total rebounds, including seven on the offensive end. Senior Sam Rastede led the way on the glass with seven rebounds.
Defensively, the Lady Wolfpack recorded five steals and limited second-chance opportunities at times, but turnovers and shooting struggles proved costly against a strong Omaha Nation squad.
Despite the setback, head coach and staff emphasized the importance of learning from the contest as postseason play approaches. The game provided another opportunity for TCNE’s young lineup to gain experience against quality competition as they enter post season play.
