Wolfpack Set New Records in 4-Set Victory Over Wausa

The TCNE Wolfpack continued their strong season Monday night, September 22nd, traveling to Wausa and taking down the Lady Vikings in a hard-fought Lewis & Clark Conference matchup. The Wolfpack prevailed 3-1, earning set scores of 25-21, 25-17, 23-25, and 25-23.

It was a night of history-making performances, with the Wolfpack showcasing resilience and record-breaking individual efforts. Leading the charge was outside hitter Joslyn Mackling, who powered the offense with a dominant 26 kills. In doing so, Mackling broke the TCNE program record for kills in a single match (previously held by Ally Jackson with 25 in 2020). Her impact wasn’t limited to the net—she also anchored the defense with 14 digs and steadied serve receive with an impressive 30 passes.

The Wolfpack attack was balanced, as freshman Cora Ridenour added 11 kills, showing composure in a high-pressure environment. At the service line, TCNE tallied five aces as a team, with Maddie Franzluebbers leading the way with two. In the middle, Delaney Fuchser patrolled the net, recording two key blocks that helped slow the Vikings’ offense.  Briley Anderson was also key in the middle recording multiple hits and a block for "the Pack".

Defensively, libero Emily Mitchell tied Mackling for the team lead in digs with 14, while opposite hitter Samantha Rastede added 12 digs, providing stability in the back row during long rallies.

Perhaps the most pivotal performance came from setter Ally Belt, who orchestrated the Wolfpack attack with precision. Belt notched a career-high and program-best 43 assists, breaking a record that had stood since 2020, when current coach Carly Dickens set the mark at 42.

Head coach Dickens praised her team’s effort after the win, noting the group’s ability to finish close sets and step up in big moments. “We saw composure from our veterans and confidence from our younger players. Breaking two program records in one night is a reflection of how hard these girls work,” Dickens said.

With the victory, the Wolfpack continue to establish themselves as a force in conference play. They’ll return to the court on Thursday, September 25th, when they travel to Lyons for a triangular against Lyons-Decatur Northeast and Winnebago.
