Wolfpack Sweep Bulldogs with Balanced Attack
The TCNE Wolfpack continued their winning streak on Thursday, September 19, powering past the Creighton Lady Bulldogs in straight sets during a road dual. With scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-19, the Wolfpack left little doubt, showcasing a blend of power at the net, relentless defense, and disciplined serve receive.
Leading the offensive charge was junior outside hitter Joslyn Mackling, who racked up 23 kills on the night. Mackling was just as steady in the back row, adding 9 digs and 15 serve receive passes to fuel the Wolfpack’s all-around effort.
Not far behind was fellow outside hitter Kiya Tornez, who despite injury, turned in one of her best all-around performances of the season. Tornez tallied 11 kills, hammered home 3 ace serves, dug up 14 balls, and led the team in serve receive with 16 passes. Her aggressive play kept Creighton on its heels and helped maintain TCNE’s momentum through each set.
The Wolfpack also used their serving to apply consistent pressure. The team finished with 7 aces—three from Tornez and two apiece from Briley Anderson and Emily Mitchell—showcasing their depth from the line.
Quarterbacking the offense was setter Ally Belt, who dished out an impressive 31 assists. Belt’s ability to spread the ball and keep hitters in rhythm allowed TCNE to control the tempo and maintain its offensive efficiency from start to finish.
With the win, the Wolfpack remain on a roll, with a record of 8-1 so far on the season. Their ability to execute in all phases has made them a tough matchup for any opponent.
Looking ahead, TCNE hits the road next week for a busy stretch. The Wolfpack travel to Wausa on Monday, September 22, for a dual before turning around to face Lyons-Decatur Northeast and Winnebago in a triangular on Thursday, September 25.
