Wolfpack Sweep Lady Chiefs in Dominant Home Victory

Wolfpack Sweep Lady Chiefs in Dominant Home Victory

On Monday, September 15th, the TCNE Wolfpack defended their home court in commanding fashion, sweeping the Omaha Nation Lady Chiefs in straight sets, 25-14, 25-12, and 25-23. The victory pushes the Wolfpack’s record to 7-1 and showcased both their offensive firepower and defensive grit.

Leading the charge was junior outside hitter Joslyn Mackling, who delivered a staggering 24 kills on the night while also contributing 14 digs and 15 serve-receive passes. Her all-around effort set the tone for TCNE and kept the Lady Chiefs on their heels throughout the dual.

The Wolfpack’s serving game proved lethal, racking up 16 aces as a team, including six from sophomore Maddie Franzluebbers, whose consistency from the line kept Omaha Nation struggling to settle into an offensive rhythm.

Defensively, libero Emily Mitchell anchored the back row with 11 digs and 11 serve-receive passes, while Mackling and outside hitter Kiya Tornez—who made a strong return to the court after missing a few games due to injury—combined for 24 digs. Tornez’s 10 digs were a critical addition as the Lady Chiefs pushed hard in the third set.

At the net, Briley Anderson recorded the Wolfpack’s lone block, while setter Ally Belt orchestrated the offense masterfully, dishing out 30 assists to keep hitters in rhythm.

Though the first two sets went decisively to TCNE, Omaha Nation showed resilience in the third, pushing the Wolfpack into a tight 25-23 finish. The Wolfpack’s balance and composure under pressure proved the difference, sealing the sweep and reinforcing their reputation as one of the area’s toughest squads.

With momentum on their side, TCNE now turns its attention to a road test against the Creighton Bulldogs on Thursday, September 18th, where both JV and varsity will take the court.
