The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack volleyball team put together a robust all-around performance Monday, September 21, earning a 3-0 sweep over the Wausa Lady Vikings at home in Allen. TCNE enthusiastically controlled the match from the opening serve, taking the three sets by scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-16.
The Pack set the tone early with a dominant first set, holding Wausa to just 11 points. TCNE continued to apply pressure throughout the second and third sets, never allowing the Lady Vikings to gain enough momentum to extend the match.
Joslyn Mackling led the Wolfpack attack with nine kills on 30 attempts. She also made an impact in several other areas, finishing with a team-high 11 digs and five aces. DeLaney Fuchser provided another strong presence at the net, recording six kills on 13 attempts with just one hitting error for a .385 hitting percentage. Fuchser also led TCNE's blocking effort with three blocks.
Briley Anderson and Cora Ridenour contributed three kills apiece, while Ally Belt added two. Anderson recorded a .286 hitting percentage and added a block, while Ridenour finished the night without an attacking error and hit .300.
Belt directed the Wolfpack offense from the setter position, handing out 20 assists while also contributing six digs, five service aces and a block. Her five aces tied Mackling for the team lead. Anderson added four aces, while Jayda Stallbaum chipped in two as TCNE kept Wausa under pressure from the service line.
Overall, the Wolfpack recorded an impressive 16 service aces in just three sets. Mackling and Belt each had five, Anderson added four and Stallbaum contributed two. Belt was also perfect from the service line on 15 attempts.
Defensively, Mackling's 11 digs paced TCNE, while Emily Mitchell and Belt each collected six digs. Ridenour added five as the Wolfpack worked to limit Wausa's offensive opportunities.
The balanced effort at the net, strong serving and solid defense helped TCNE complete the straight-set victory and defend its home court in Allen.
