Wolfpack Girls Participate in State X-C at Kearney

Wolfpack girls participate in State X-C at Kearney

By: Coach Dave Uldrich

The conditions in Nebraska are ever changing.  That proved to be detrimental to the 2 Wolfpack girl participants this past weekend in Kearney at the state Class D cross country meet.

All week, weather was projected to be high 60’s and low 70’s.  On Friday at race time the temperature had soared to 89 degrees.  The temperature played a role in the performances of the two runners.

Alejandra Hermosillo finished the course in a time of 23:57, which bettered her course time at Kearney in late September by one minute and six seconds but was only good enough for 71st out of 124 runners.  Hermosillo finished the year with a best time of 21:57.

Bre Millard failed to finish as the heat took its’ toll at the 1 ½ mile mark causing Millard to drop out of the competition.  Millard finishes the year with a cooperative record time of 21:21.

The race ended a highly successful season for the five Wolfpack ladies consistently bettered times all year and were highly competitive every time that they stepped foot at the starting line.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“This isn’t how our girls wanted to finish a great year.  Nonetheless, they have struggled with heat in the past, and today was no different.  It wasn’t a lack of effort at any time.  The girls always gave us their best and worked daily to get better.  The coaches were pleased and appreciated your efforts.  Congratulations on a great year team!”
