Wolfpack run in large field at Wisner-Pilger Invite

Wolfpack run in large field at Wisner-Pilger Invite………

Tri County Northeast competed Thursday, August 31st at the Wisner-Pilger Invite on the Beemer Golf Course.  The field featured 24 schools.

Conditions were windy, but temperatures cooperated somewhat to help runners navigate the course.

The infamous hill in the middle of the course definitely sorted the field out quickly in both boys and girls races.

On the boys’ side of things, sophomore Alex Snyder, posted a 36th place finish in the 109-boy field with a time of 22:14.  Sophomores Devon Lewellen and Sean Lawrence posted times of 24:45 and 33:56 good for 73rd and 104th respectively.

Three Wolfpack girls bettered their times from the 2022 course run at the meet.

Sophomore, Alejandra Hermosillo, posted a 24th place finish with a time of 26:04.  Junior Bre Millard, ran 47th in a time of 28:32.  Jenni Olson ran 53rd in a time of 29:02, and Shantel Miller ran 64th with a 31:12 time.  Hermosillo, Olson and Miller all improved over last year’s efforts, but fell short of earning any medals.

There were 82 girl runners in the varsity race.

The girls’ team placed 11th in the event.

Next action for the Wolfpack is scheduled for Thursday, September 7th at the L-C-C Invite.  Meet time is 4:00 p.m.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“The teams ran well, as three returning girls improved over last year’s efforts, but the field was very good, and we were not fortunate to collect any medals.  The boys ran well but learned quickly that terrain on courses changes along with weather conditions, which affect time and effort.  The team will continue to be a work in progress, work hard and compete to the best of their individual abilities.”
