Wolfpack Runners Have a Very Productive Day at Wayne Invite

Wolfpack runners have a very productive day at Wayne Invite………..

The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack Cross Country team ran very well at the Wayne Invitational on Monday, September 11th.

The athletes all ran a personal best or beat their times on the Wayne course from the 2022 season, showing the continued progress of everyone.

Medalists on the day were juniors Bre Millard, who placed 11th with a time of 23:28, which eclipsed her personal best time on any course as well as shaving almost 2 minutes off her 2022 time in this meet.

Alejandra Hermosillo placed 14th for the Pack, running 23:48 which was one minute and 15 seconds faster than her effort on this course in 2022.

Shantel Miller and Jenni Olson also ran the course much faster than 2022.  Miller ran 28:11, bettering her time of 28:54 in 2022, while Olson posted a 27:47, taking off over 2 minutes from 2022.

The boys also posted career bests, since both runners are new this year.

Devon Lewellen ran 23:08 and Sean Lawrence ran 27:45, both bettering their times in only their fourth ever attempts at the 5k.

Next action for the Wolfpack will be Thursday, September 14th at Twin Creeks Golf Course in Pender.  The first race begins at 4:30 with the girls.  The boys’ race will follow immediately after the completion of the girl’s competition.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“Not one athlete took a step backwards today with everyone competing well.  The teams continue to show daily progress from day one, and last year at this time.  That is all the coaches can ask of them.

Seeing their successes and improvements makes this very enjoyable to watch.  The teams will continue to work on getting better each day, and we will see how far they go from here.  Great job teams/athletes.”
