Wolfpack Qualifies Two Runners for State Meet in Kearney

Tri County Northeast qualified two runners for the state cross-country championships at Kearney on Friday, October 24th at the Kearney Country Club.

The Wolfpack team ran on a very hilly Sky View Lake Park course but competed very well.

Leading the girls’ team was senior, Alejandra Hermosillo, as she qualified for the state meet for the third consecutive year. Hermosillo posted a 15th place time of 23:09 good for the final individual qualifying spot.

Running mates Rachael Bousquet posted a time of 23:14, placing 16th and just missed qualifying, and Hailey Millard ran a time of 26:24 good for 46th place in the field of 61 runners.

On the boys’ side, junior Jude Ridenour qualified for the second year in a row, placing 13th with a time of 19:18.

Other boys in the field for the Wolfpack were Alex Snyder, who placed 28th posting a time of 20:58, Tucker Anderson finishing 52nd with a time of 23:48, and Matthew Bousquet finishing 59th with a time of 25:44. There were 66 runners in the boy’s field.

The season concludes for seven of nine athletes on the team, but Ridenour and Hermosillo are returning to Kearney to try to improve upon last year's times and places from 2024.

Race times for the two qualifiers are as follows: Alejandra Hermosillo will run at 12:00 Friday and Jude Ridenour will run at 1:00 Friday.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“Coming into a meet in which we didn’t know the terrain of the course and true difficulty of it, the team competed well. The times for most runners from all the schools in the meet were below their season’s best times, so the coaches considered the day a success. Congratulations to Jude and Alejandra for their qualifying performances and GOOD LUCK at STATE next Friday! Thanks to all the team members for working hard all season long to improve! Thank You TEAM!”
