The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack gave the home crowd plenty to celebrate Friday, September 25, turning in a dominant performance to defeat the Oakland-Craig Knights 50-6 in their Homecoming matchup.
TCNE’s ground game powered the offense throughout the night, with several Wolfpack players finding success carrying the football. Senior Blake Kneifl led the charge with 163 yards on 23 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt and scoring four rushing touchdowns. His longest run went for 27 yards.
Sophomore Logan Kraemer provided one of the biggest plays of the game, breaking loose for a 68-yard touchdown run on his lone carry. Freshman Paxton Servine added another strong performance with 54 yards on eight carries and a touchdown, while sophomore Ben Bousquet rushed eight times for 63 yards, averaging nearly eight yards per carry.
Altogether, the Wolfpack piled up 360 rushing yards, with six rushing touchdowns coming from Kneifl, Kraemer and P. Servine.
TCNE also found the end zone on defense. Freshman Jacob Warner recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown, adding another six points to the Wolfpack total. Warner had an impressive night on the defensive side of the ball, recording five total tackles, including three tackles for loss, along with a sack and the fumble recovery.
The Wolfpack defense made life difficult for Oakland-Craig throughout the contest. Hayden Hatcher finished with five tackles, while Logan Morgan and Bousquet each recorded four. Taven Kent, Atlee Anderson and Warner each registered a sack, giving TCNE three sacks on the night. Bousquet, Kent and Anderson were also credited with tackles for loss.
Kneifl contributed on both sides of the football, intercepting an Oakland-Craig pass and returning it 20 yards. Between rushing and interception-return yardage, the senior accounted for 183 all-purpose yards.
Special teams also played a role in the victory. Kneifl handled the punting duties, averaging 33.3 yards on three punts with a long of 42 yards. Kraemer recorded a 20-yard kickoff return, while Morgan returned two punts for 23 yards.
The Wolfpack converted three two-point attempts, with Bousquet, Knox Lamp and Landyn Servine each successfully running in a conversion.
With touchdowns coming from several different players and a defense that held Oakland-Craig to just six points, TCNE put together a complete performance on both sides of the football. The 50-6 Homecoming victory gave the Wolfpack and their fans a memorable finish to the week's festivities.
