TCNE Wolfpack Volleyball Starts Season Strong

The TCNE Wolfpack Volleyball team began their season this week, traveling to Winnebago to face the Lady Indians on Tuesday August 29th. The Wolfpack made a strong start, over taking the Lady Indians 25-18 in the first set. The second set, although very close, went in the Lady Indian’s favor, 28-26. The Wolfpack was able to run away with the game, winning the third and fourth sets, 25-19 and 25-7.
Leading in attacks on the night for TCNE was junior Rylinn Mitchell with 16 kills. Junior Mica Tornez added 14 kills. Tornez also proved to be strong behind the serving line racking up 8 aces. Setter Brianna Novak had 29 assists during the game.
Defensively, the Wolfpack was not given many blocking opportunities, but Mica Tornez had one recorded block on the night. Rylinn Mitchell led her team in digs with 13 while Mica and Kiya Tornez each added 12. Mitchell also led in serve receive passes with 18.
The TCNE Wolfpack participated in the Ponca Varsity & JV volleyball tournament on Thursday August 31st. The Wolfpack faced the Lady Indians of Ponca first and won that match 2-0. They then faced the Lady Knights of Homer where they fell 1-2. TCNE ended up 1-1 for the tournament. No stats were available for these matches at print time.
