Let it be said that nothing is easy, but the five athletes representing Allen High School Thursday night in Norfolk, deserve to be recognized for outstanding efforts.  The Northeast Nebraska Classic is a meet that athletes must qualify to compete in by their times or distances in meets during the regular season.  The meet is open for all four classes A, B, C, D.  It represents state track meet caliber athletes for competition.

In the boys 4 X 800 field, the Eagle boys posted a state Class D leading time of 8:41.4, only being beaten by Wisner-Pilger and O’Neill Public.  Members of the third place team were,  S.T. O’Keefe, Isaac Verzani, Tayler Kumm, and Garrett Brentlinger who circled the track in impressive fashion, beating the likes of Hartington Cedar Catholic, Madison and Humphrey St. Francis.

Not to be outdone by her male teammates, senior Lexi Oswald, posted at 12:28.4 time in the open 3200 meter run gaining third place.  The time though was the top time run in Class D this year for girls by six seconds.   Most impressive, only a Class A runner and Class C runner could beat Oswald who was the only Class D participant in the 12 girl field.

The Eagles return to action with the Lewis & Clark Conference meet this week, with districts coming on Wednesday, May 11th at Hartington.
