LADY TROJANS GO 3-1 IN LEWIS & CLARK CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

The Lady Trojans made it to the second round of the Lewis & Clark Conference Volleyball tournament held Saturday October 19th-Tuesday October 22nd going 3-1 in the tournament.  The team had somewhat home court advantage early on as the first round of the tournament was surprisingly moved from Wakefield to Allen at the last minute due to gymnasium repairs at Wakefield Community School.  Allen Consolidated Schools hosted Pool D of the first round of the Lewis & Clark tournament making for the 3rd game in a row that they hosted at home in the same week and the only home games they were able to host all season.  

Day 1, Pool D Results:

Game 1:  Wakefield-Allen vs. Creighton-  Win 2-0    Set 1- W/A 25, C 8     Set 2- W/A 25, C 14

Game 2:  Winnebago vs. Creighton-  Winnebago Wins 2-0   Set 1-  W 25, C 19   Set 2- W 25, C 17

Game 3:  Wakefield-Allen vs. Winnebago- Win 2-1   Set 1- W/A 25, W 14   Set 2- W/A 21, 25   Set 3- W/A 25, W 5

With two wins on the first day of the tournament, Wakefield-Allen qualified for the second day, traveling to Randolph High School to face the number one team in the conference Wynot.  The Lady Trojans gave the Lady Blue Devils quite the game holding them to a 2 point win in the first set.  Wakefield-Allen battled hard but could not come up with the W.  Final score, Wynot 2, W/A 0   Set 1- W/A- 22, W 25   Set 2- W/A 18, W 25.  The team then had to face Hartington-Newcastle in the consolation game where they were able to win in 2 sets.  Set scores:  Set 1- W/A 25, H-N 22  Set 2- W-A 25, H-N 17.  After the tournament, the Lady Trojans improve their record to 18-12.

Tournament Stat Leaders:

Attacking-  Kill leaders:  Hayden Ekberg and Jordyn Carr each with 27 for the tournament.  Alli Jackson added 23 and Alex Arenas with 11.

Serving-  Ace Serve leaders:  Carly Dickens, Chely Dominguez, and Jordyn Carr each racked up 5 aces while Abby Heiman added 4 and Alli Jackson had 3.  As a team, the Lady Trojans served on average 90.9 during the tournament.   

Blocking- Hayden Ekberg was the leading blocker with 2 total.

Digs- Aishah Valenzuela led her team with 38 digs followed closely by Jordyn Carr with 37.  

Serve Receives- Jordyn Carr racked up a whopping 49 serve receive passes.  Aishah Valenzuela was crucial defensively adding 39 serve receives.  

Assist- Carly Dickens had 86 assists during the tournament.

The Lady Trojans travel to Winnebago on Thursday October 24th for a triangular and will then begin sub-district action next Monday October 28th.
