TCNE Wins Triangular, Loses Dual, and Goes 1-2 in a Tournament During a Busy Week of Games

TCNE Wins Triangular, Loses Dual in Busy Week of Games

On Tuesday October 3rd, the TCNE Wolfpack traveled to Walthill to face the Lady BluJays and the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers in triangular action.  The Wolfpack faced the Panthers in the first match of the night.  The first set proved to be strong for TCNE as they easily overtook the Panthers 25-12 but the second set seemed to be a more difficult battle for the Wolfpack however they were victorious in the end taking the 2nd set and the game 25-18.

Kiya Tornez led her team with 3 ace serves, 12 serve receive passes, and 7 digs during the game.  Rylinn Mitchell recorded 8 kills on the night and led in digs with 6.  Mitchell also had the only block during the game.  Mica Tornez was a vital player offensively adding 5 more kills for the Wolfpack.  Setter Brianna Novak had 14 assists during the match.

During the second game of the triangular, the Wolfpack played the host team, the Lady BluJays in what ended up being another 2-0 win in the books for TCNE.  During the first set the Wolfpack came out to pounce        quickly taking the set 25-11.  The second set was a battle for the Wolfpack as the Lady BluJays fired up, closing the scoring gap but the Wolfpack was victorious in the end winning the set 25-23. 

Mica Tornez had an impressive game leading with 4 ace serves and 7 digs.  She was also a vital defensive player with 8 serve receive passes.

Kiya Tornez had another strong game with 10 kills, 11 serve receives and 7 digs.  Rylinn Mitchell also tallied 10 kills while setter Brianna Novak had 25 assists.

Later in the week, the Wolfpack hosted a dual with Homer in Allen on Thursday October 5th.  Although there were strong points in each set, the Lady Knights overcame the Wolfpack in 3, winning the game: Set 1- 18-25, Set 2 22-25, Set 3 15-25.

Mica Tornez once again led her team in kills, pounding down 11 and serves with 3 aces. Kiya Tornez had another great night as well adding 10 kills and putting up 35 serve receives for her team.  Rylinn Mitchell and Brianna Novak each put up a single block during the game while Novak and  Joslyn Mackling & played hard defensively leading their team with 8 digs each.  Novak also added 19 assists during the game.

The Wolfpack traveled to Hartington-Newcastle High School on Saturday October 7th for a tournament where they went 1-2 on the day losing to North Central and Laurel Concord Coleridge 0-2 and winning against Winside 2-0.
