Wolfpack Wins 1 During a Week of Triangulars

On Tuesday September 5th, the TCNE Wolfpack traveled to Pender to face the Pendragons and the Howells-Dodge Jaguars.  In the first game of the night, the Wolfpack lost to the Jaguars of Howells-Dodge in 2 sets.  In Set 1, the Wolfpack fell to the Jaguars 25-17 with an almost similar score during Set 2, 15-25.  Kill leader on the night was Rylinn Mitchell, racking up 5 and Mica Tornez adding another 4.  Mitchell also shone on the floor in other areas, tallying a double-double in digs (10) and serve receive (14).   She also had the only block on the night.

During the 2nd match of the triangular, the Wolfpack struggled to gain the match but pulled off a 2nd set win.  Set 1 was taken by the Pendragons 15-25.  The Wolfpack pounded back during the 2nd set 25-22 and the last set was won by the Pendragons 25-21.  The Tornez sisters led their team in kills during the match with Kiya totaling 7 and Mica adding 6.  Kaylynn Novak, Rylinn Mitchell and Mica Tornez each recorded an ace serve.  Setter, Brianna Novak had 22 assists.  Kiya Tornez and Mica Tornez had a great defensive day with 25 digs between them.  Kiya had a great night on serve receive leading with 25 passes.

In their second triangular of the week, the Wolfpack traveled to Randolph to compete against the Tigers of Osmond and the Cardinals from Randolph.  The battle of the Wolfpack and Tigers took three sets but ultimately led to a Wolfpack victory.  Osmond took set 1 with a score of 21-25. Sets 2 and 3 were won by the Wolfpack 25-14 and 25-15, leading to another win on the record.

Mica and Kiya Tornez were at it again, posing a strong offensive front for the Wolfpack.  Mica had 9 kills during the match while Kiya added 5.  Rylinn Mitchell also proved to be a force on attacks adding 4 kills.  Setter Brianna Novak had 17 assists on the night but also pounded 6 ace serves at the Tigers.  Kiya Tornez had a double-double defensively with 12 digs and 12 serve receive passes. 

The Wolfpack struggled to gain enough momentum to overtake the Cardinals in their last match of the night losing in 2 straight sets, 20-25 and 18-25. 

Rylinn Mitchell, Mica and Kiya Tornez each led in kills with 4 during the match.  Brianna Novak led in ace serves with 2.  Kaylynn Novak, Samantha Rastede, and Kiya Tornez each added an ace during the match.  Freshman Emily Mitchell had an impressive night defensively leading her team in digs with 6 followed closely by Mica Tornez with 5.  Kiya Tornez had 14 serve receive passes during the match.

The TCNE Wolfpack looks forward to a very busy week with matches against LCC and Lyons-Decatur.
