Wolfpack Track team competes well at Homer Invitational………..

When asked what day of the week to run a track meet in Northeast Nebraska, the reply might be on the day before or the day after the scheduled meet.  Thursday was not a great day, with winds ranging from 25-35 miles per hour and temperatures struggling to break 50 degrees.  Nonetheless, the “show must go on”.  As a testament to the wind, several team tents had drifts of corn stalks to wade through to find bags and lunch coolers.

The Wolfpack got several outstanding efforts from juniors, Bryan Isom and Bre Millard.  Isom and Millard earned four medals on the day topping the Wolfpack efforts.  Freshman Grace Ankeny broke through in the shot put, winning her first career individual medal.  Sprint times may look slow, since they all were run into the wind due to the timing system used.

The Wolfpack will travel to Laurel on Tuesday, April 16^th for the L-C-C Invite.  The event time is set for 2:00.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“It was not very nice today.  Heavy cloud cover and winds that about knocked a person off their feet.  The kids performed well despite this.  The effort continues to be noticed.  The track meet was dominated by the two large schools.  The team will continue to work for progress and what the rest of the season holds.  We will or should have a full compliment of athletes for really the first time this season next week and the coaches are looking forward to seeing what will happen.  Good job athletes.”
