On March 22-24, 2024, eight students from Allen Consolidated School travelled to Nebraska City to compete in the Greater Nebraska Science & Engineering Fair. GNSEF is a regional fair that includes much of the eastern portion of Nebraska, bounded on the east by the Missouri River and on the west by Clay County. Anyone in grades 6-12 attending school in this region is eligible to compete. GNSEF chooses one or two winners to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair each year. GNSEF divides projects into 22 categories and two divisions. The junior division includes students in 6th through 8th grade and the senior division includes students in 9th through 12th grade. Categories include Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth and Space Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Medicine and Health, Microbiology, Physics and Zoology.
