Eagles to make 11th playoff appearance, 6th consecutive, on October 21st at Humphrey St. Francis at 6:00 p.m.
Two proud programs experienced their final regular season games concurrently on Friday night in Allen. While battling one another one last time, the players on both teams became “brothers” at the expiration of time of the fourth period. But, for 48 minutes, one last time, they had to battle it out on the field.
The Allen Eagles finished the regular season as well as program history with a convincing 50-14 win over Emerson-Hubbard. The win propels the Eagles into the state playoffs starting Thursday night. The Eagles will travel to Humphrey to play the Flyers of Humphrey St. Francis.
The Eagles had no problems moving the football, as they amassed 368 yards of total offense. The Eagles raced out to a 21-0 lead in the first period, on a Gabe Reinert 26 yard run and a pass of 17 yards from Nathan Oswald to Ty Krommenhoek and 20 yard run by Nathan Oswald. The half would end at 21-0.
The Eagles scored on two consecutive possessions in the third period, as Oswald dove over from the 1 yard line and Reinert bolted 24 yards to a score, putting the Eagles up 35-0 in the third. The running clock took effect and the Eagles were able to sprinkle and then whole sale substitute players the balance of the evening as they expanded the lead to 50-0 late in the game.
Emerson-Hubbard added two late fourth period touchdowns to bring the final score to 50-14.
The Eagle defense was stifling in the effort. Emerson-Hubbard gain 122 yards on the ground for the night, but 76 on the two late touchdown runs.
Defensively, Michael Dickens led tacklers with 13. Brayden McCorkindale chipped in 9, while Joe Grone and Gabe Reinert added 8 each.
Offensively, Gabe Reinert rushed for 128 yards on 11 carries, scoring twice. Joe Grone added 121 yards on 15 carries. Five Eagles registered touchdowns in the effort. The offensive line of Kumm, Kallsen, Anderson, Olesen and Krommenhoek allowed the massive number by consistently providing good running lanes for the backs.
The win moves the Eagle season record to 3-5, and 3-1 in district play. The win also put the Eagles in the playoff for the sixth consecutive season.
