Wolfpack Girls Go 0-2 in 2021 Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament

TCNE Girls Go 0-2 in Conference Tournament

The Tri County Northeast Girls Basketball team were 0-2 during this year’s Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament.  The Wolfpack began the tournament seeded sixth and facing the third seeded Wakefield Lady Trojans.  The game was held in Wynot on Saturday January 30th.  Although this game started off fairly close, the Lady Trojans were able to keep a lead upon entering into half time.  The Wolfpack picked up a little steam during the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Lady Trojans 9-7 but a lack of buckets in the 4th quarter ultimately sealed their fate, losing to their one time cooperative teammates, 33-47.

Points by Quarter:

Q1- TCNE- 11, Wake- 16     Q2- TCNE- 13, Wake- 18     Q3- TCNE-9, Wake- 7   Q4- TCNE- 0, Wake-6

Points leader was junior Jordyn Carr who racked up 19 points for the Wolfpack on the night.

Leading rebounder for TCNE was Brynn Schock who tallied 7 rebounds total, 4 offensive and 3 defensive.  Carr, Ryanne Mackling, and Alli Jackson also had a good night rebounding each adding 6.

Carr kept up her pattern of leading the Wolfpack in stats by adding 2 assists and 8 steals during the game.

Turnovers were an important factor in the game for Wolfpack who turned the ball over 23 times.   This makes it difficult for even the best shooting teams to come back from.

In their second game of the Lewis & Clark Conference, the TCNE Wolfpack played Creighton.  This game was originally set to take place in Randolph but with Covid-19 issues there, and the Cardinals having to bow out of the tournament, the game was abruptly switched to Allen.  This game against the Bulldogs seemed to be another possible win for the Wolfpack.  The score of this game was much closer than the first, with the teams being within just a few points of each other after the first and second quarters.  Halftime score was TCNE- 23, Creighton- 26.  A poor showing by the Wolfpack during the third and many turnovers during the game, allowed for the Bulldogs to ultimately pull off the win, even though the Wolfpack put up 21 points in the 4th.  The final score was TCNE- 47, Creighton- 55.

Points by Quarter:

Q1- TCNE- 9, CR-11         Q2- TCNE- 14, CR-15       Q3- TCNE- 3, CR-10              Q4- TCNE- 21, CR-19

Jordyn Carr had an impressive night of scoring racking up 30 points for the Wolfpack.

Carr also led her team in rebounds totaling 7, 3 offensive and 4 defensive.

Ryanne Mackling led in assists with 2 while Carr led in steals with 6.

The Wolfpack was scheduled to play Randolph in their final game of the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament however, with Covid-19 issues in Randolph that game was cancelled.  The Wolfpack looks forward to finishing out their regular season in the next few weeks and sub-district competition after.
