Eagles roll up 44 in first half in 66-8 win at Emerson-Hubbard…..

The Eagles of Allen, came of a bye week in a big way Friday at Emerson-Hubbard, rolling up 44 first half points and coasting in as a 66-8 victor.

The challenge was to improve areas of concern along with adding more physicality to the game, and it seemed to be more apparent, as the Eagles clamped down on the Pirates the entire night.

The first half flood gate opened immediately, as Noah Carr took the opening kickoff 73 yards to the end zone.  Moments later after a Pirate punt, Carr again, jaunted 35 yards.  The Eagles were up 12-0 before the game was 3 minutes old.

Steven Sullivan blocked a Pirate punt two series later, allowing Lukas Oswald to hit Ty Krommenhoek on a 9 yard pass.  Oswald connected with Steven Cooks on the PAT for a 20-0 lead.

The Eagles rolled up 24 second period points with Oswald hitting Carr on a 56 yard bomb.  Anthony Isom added a 57 yard bolt up the middle, and Carr tacked on an 8 yard run.  Isom, Ryan Anderson, and Oswald all ran in PAT attempts to make the score 44-0 at halftime

The second team offense played the last 4 minutes of the first half and the entire second half, accounting for the final 22 points.  Kobe Kumm added a 21 yard run, Ryan Anderson a 37 yard run and Reed Hingst a 35 yard run.  Kumm and Grone added PAT runs to set the final score at 66 for the Eagles.

Offensively, Noah Carr scored four times, on a kickoff, two runs and a pass reception.  Oswald did a good job going 3 for 3 passing and running the offense.  The offensive line had a tremendously good game, opening gaping holes.

Defensively, Brogan Jones, wrangled 13 Pirates down, and Anthony Isom added 9.

The win moves the Eagles to 2-0 on the season, with Winside next up on the schedule.  The game is at Winside on Friday, September 20th at 7:00 p.m.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“With the bye week, we worked on a few things that are going to be necessary to do down the road in district play.  I think we accomplished a few things, such as limiting penalties, ball security, and more physical play.  The defense rallied to the ball well tonight, allowing us to limit big plays.  As we move forward, things still need work, as we are a work in progress.  It was a nice team win, the team performed well.”
