LADY TROJANS ADVANCE IN LEWIS & CLARK CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

They Wakefield-Allen Lady Trojans traveled to Ponca on Friday January 31st to face the Osmond Lady Tigers in the first round of the Lewis & Clark Conference Basketball tournament.  The Lady Trojans started off strong offensively outscoring the Lady Tigers 19-9.  The second period was matched fairly evenly as both teams scored only 7 points each.  The half time score was W-A 26, Osmond 16.  After half the Lady Trojans were able to further advance their lead with an impressive third period outscoring the Lady Tigers 17-6.  Coach Emswiler was able to utilize his bench during this game allowing for less experienced Varsity team member to gain some valuable playing time in this tournament.  The Lady Trojans advance to the second round of the tournament defeating Osmond 57-39.

Points by Period:  1st- W-A 19, O 9   2nd- W-A 7, O 7   3rd-  W-A 17, O 6   4th-  W-A 14, O 17

The Lady Trojan points leader was once again Jordyn Carr.  She racked up 20 points on the night.  Alex Arenas was also an influential scorer adding 14 for the team.  The Lady Trojans shot 31% on the night and were 7 for 16 from the free throw line.

Kassidy Brudigam was rebound leader for W-A racking up 6 total (2 offensive, 4 defensive).  Carr was also noted as a rebound leaer with 5 (4 offesnive, 1 defensive).

Rachel Borg led the Lady Trojans in assists with 4.  Maddie Mogus recorded the only block for W-A during the game while Carr and Alex Arenas each tallied 7 steals.  

The Lady Trojans will travel to Homer for the second round of the conference tournament on Tuesday February 4th.  They will face the Ponca Lady Indians at 6 pm.
