EAGLES WIN HOMECOMING IN A RUNAWAY....

Eagles win homecoming in a runaway……………..

The Allen Eagles hosted Randolph Friday night, in which many thought would be a close game.  Instead, the feisty Eagle squad hung up 42 first half points while holding the Cardinals scoreless with stifling defense, and then rolling in a dominating offensive display, in route to a 64-16 homecoming win.

The Eagles left no doubt, as they tallied 22 first period points in just under 4 minutes to open the game.  On the second play of the game, Lukas Oswald hit Steven Cooks on a 65 yard pass, and then Ty Krommenhoek on the PAT to put the score at 8-0 just 29 seconds into the game.

On the ensuing possession, Anthony Isom picked off a Connor Schnoor pass and returned it to the Cardinal one yard line, setting up a 1 yard run by Isom on the next play.  Isom added the PAT run to make the score 16-0 only 1:32 seconds into the game.

Following a Cardinal punt, Ryan Anderson crossed the goal line from 4 yards out to put the Eagles up 22-0 with only 3:53 lapsed off the clock, and the rout was on.

In the second period the Eagles tallied scores on an Oswald 12 yard run.  Kobe Kumm added a 13 yard touchdown run, followed by Oswald hitting Reed Hingst  for the PAT, and Isom added a 35 yard run to put the score at 42-0 at intermission.

Lukas Oswald scored from 6 yards out on the first Eagle possession of the third frame, and Ryan Anderson added the PAT run to bulge the score to 50-0.

Reserves played liberally the last quarter and one half.  Freshmen, Joe Grone tallied a  3 yard score, Gabe Reinert added a 4 yard run, and Ryan Anderson added a PAT run.

Defensively, Anthony Isom and Brogan Jones anchored a smothering defensive effort with 13 and 12 tackles respectively.  Isom and Reed Hingst intercepted Cardinal passes, and Kobe Kumm added a fumble recovery.

The defense gave up 224 yards to a potent Cardinal offense, but 87 came on two long passes against reserves.

Offensively, the Eagles amassed 395 yards on the ground in 46 attempts.  Isom and Kumm ran for 111 and 100, while several other Eagles contributed in accumulating 8 touchdowns rushing.

Steven Cooks and Ty Krommenhoek each had one catch from Oswald.  Cooks’ catch covered 65 yards and one score.

The win moves the Eagle overall record to 6-1, 3-1 in the district.  Next action is scheduled for Friday, October 25th, in Allen against Wynot.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“We expected a hard fought game tonight.  Our kids just flat out dominated them.  The coaching staff had both the offensive, defensive, and specialty schemes set perfectly, and our kids executed them almost flawlessly.  It was a total team effort, and sets us into a highly positive way for our season finale with Wynot.  It will also mark the first time all season that we have our entire compliment of players, which will also add to our depth and ability to play at even a higher level.  The coaches, fans and community have to be proud of what these young men are putting out weekly.  Great win team.”
