LADY TROJANS WIN 1 AND LOSE 1 AT WAUSA TRIANGULAR
Jackson led in kills, Valenzuela and Carr key defenders
The Wakefield-Allen Lady Trojans traveled to Wausa to play fellow conference teams the Lady Vikings and the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats in varsity action on Tuesday October 2nd. The Lady Trojans went 1-1 on the night defeating Wausa in 2 sets and losing to Hartington-Newcastle in 3 sets.
In the match-up against the Lady Vikings of Wausa, the Lady Trojans took the game in 2 with set scores: Set 1- 25-18 and Set 2- 25-12. Offensively, Wakefield-Allen hit at .098. Alli Jackson led the Lady Trojans in kills with 5 followed closely by Jordyn Carr with 4, Hayden Ekberg with 3 and Alex Arenas with 2. Rachel Borg added a kill for her team. Carly Dickens had 14 assists. As a team, Wakefiled-Allen served at 93.9%. Senior, Chely Dominguez led in serves racking up 3 aces. Carly Dickens and Aishah Valenzuela each added 2 aces while Abby Heiman had 1. Defensively, Alli Jackson was a blocking powerhouse in the front row. She tallied 3 blocks against the Lady Vikings. Hayden Ekberg and Rachel Borg each had a block during the game. Libero, Aishah Valenzuela recorded 11 digs and 8 serve receive passes. Jordyn Carr was also vital defensively digging up 7 balls and 11 serve receive passes. Abby Heiman added 7 serve receive passes.
The Lady Trojans second game of the night was against a traditionally strong Wildcats team of Hartington-Newcastle. Wakefield-Allen came out hard in the first set taking it from Hartington-Newcastle 25-22. In the 2nd set, the Lady Trojans couldn't hang on to the lead losing the second set 18-25. The Wildcats sealed the deal with a final set win of 25-14. Offensively, Wakefield-Allen hit at .087 during the game. Leading hitters were Hayden Ekberg with 7, Alli Jackson with 6, and Jordyn Carr with 4. Carly Dickens had 18 assists. The Lady Trojans served at 89.5% with Heiman, Dominguez, and Carr each recorded an ace. Aishah Valenzuela led her team defensively with 13 digs and 23 serve receives. Jordyn Carr was also effective defensively with 11 digs and 13 serve receives.
The Lady Trojans travel to Osmond on Thursday October 3rd in JV and Varsity action.
