Eagles move to 3-0 with 54-8 win at Winside

Eagles move to 3-0 with 54-8 win at Winside…….

The Allen Eagles traveled to Winside Friday night, and came home with a convincing 54-8 win.

The wind was a factor in the way the game was played early for the Eagles, as they elected to kick off, play defense, and establish short field scoring drives.  Three early scores were then manufactured, as Noah Carr ran in runs of 4, 5, and 6 yards, allowing the Eagles to lead 18-0 at the end of the first period.

The defense stifled the Wildcats the entire night, allowing the onslaught to continue.  The Eagles rolled up 28 second period points, racing to a 46-0 lead at intermission.  Lukas Oswald ran 3 yards to pay dirt, and followed that with a 20 yard scoring strike to Anthony Isom.  Kobe Kumm then added a 3 yard run, and a 15 yard scoring strike to Ryan Anderson.

Reserves played a portion of the second period as well as the entire second half as both teams added a touchdown in the fourth period.  The Eagles final score came on a one yard Reed Hingst run.

Defensively, Anthony Isom and Ryan Anderson led the team with 8 stops.  Brogan Jones and Josh Olesen added 7 and 6 respectively.  Nate Oswald intercepted two Wildcat passes.

Offensively, the Eagles rolled up 381 yards, led by Noah Carr’s 83 yards on 9 attempts, and three touchdowns.  Lukas Oswald hit 4 of 5 passes for 55 yards.  Anthony Isom’s two catches led the receivers for the Eagles.

The win ups the Eagles season record to 3-0.  Next action is slated for Friday, September 27 in Allen against the #3 ranked, 3-0 Bloomfield Bees in district action.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“Our defense played pretty good tonight.  Offensively, we laid the ball down to many times.  Most of those were reserve players, but nonetheless, mistakes are mistakes.  The team played physically, and stayed clean penalty-wise, so that was good to see.  The team going forward, will have to have a focused week of practice, and be mentally and physically ready for our game with Bloomfield.”
