WAKEFIELD-ALLEN LADY TROJANS GO 1-1 IN FIRST ROUND OF HOME TOURNAMENT

The Lady Trojans held the first round of their home tournament on Thursday September 12th in Wakefield.  W-A faced the Wolverines of BRLD in their first game of the night.  The Lady Trojans came out tough overtaking the Wolverines 25 to 15 in the first set.  The 2nd set seemed to be a rythmical struggle for W-A where as the Wolverines came to a common rhythm, with strong serving and consistent hitting, winning the second set 25-13.  The last set of the game was a hard fought battle between the two teams.  W-A fell behind early but came back to tie the score at 17.  BRLD won the match in the last points 25-22.  The Lady Trojans hit at .092 during the game.  Leading hitters were Hayden Ekberg, Jordyn Carr, and Alli Jackson each with 5 kills.   Rachel Borg added 4 kills while Carly Dickens and Alex Arenas each had 2.  The Lady Trojans served at an impressive 96.6% against the Wolverines.  Abby Heiman scored 2 aces while Alli Jackson added another.  Aishah Valenzuela, Abby Heiman, Alli Jackson, Chely Dominguez all served at 100% during the game.  Blocking was much improved for the Lady Trojans during the game.  As a team, W-A put up 7 blocks.  Hayden Ekberg led with 3, Rachel Borg added 2, and Carly Dickens had 1.  Libero, Aisha Valenzuela recorded 31 digs and 18 serve receive passes during the game.  Alex Arenas was a key defender as well tallying 12 digs and 22 serve receives.  Setter, Carly Dickens led in assists with 22.

In the final game of the night, The Lady Trojans faced the Lady Blue Jays of Pierce.  W-A took Pierce in close sets:  25-23 and 25-22 finishing off their night.  As a team, W-A hit at .138 with Hayden Ekberg leading in kills with 6 followed by Alli Jackson (5), Alex Arenas (5), Jordyn Carr (4), Abby Heiman (3), and Rachel Borg (2).  The team served at 90% during this game, slightly less than their percentage in their first match.  Carr had the only ace serve.  Heiman and Valenzuela each srved at 100%.  Three total blocks were tallied for the Lady Trojans during the game with H. Ekberg, R. Borg, and Carr each putting up one.  Defensively, libero Valenzuela led her team with 15 digs and 14 serve receives.  Carr added 5 digs and 18 serve receives.  Dickens had the most assists with 20 while H. Ekberg added 4.  

The Lady Trojans will play the final round of their home tournament on Saturday September 14th against Cedar Catholic at 8:30 am.  Games following are TBD based on pool play results.
