The Allen Eagles started the 2019 season doing what they do best, running the football and rolling to a 44-6 win over Cedar Bluffs in Allen, Friday night.  Shortly after the game concluded, half of the field lights simultaneously went dark, possibly indicating it was “lights out” for the Wildcats as well.

The Eagles amassed 403 yards on 43 carries, scoring 5 times.  The first of the five scores came on the second play of the game, as Lukas Oswald ran the left side 42 yards.  Oswald then followed that score minutes later from a yard out to put the Eagles up 12-0.  Oswald then connected with Ty Krommenhoek from 12 yards to balloon the score to 18-0 after a period.

Anthony Isom, pushed through the interior shortly after the start of the second period from 2 yards out to get the Eagle lead to 24-0.  Following a pair of Eagle turnovers on drives that looked very promising, the Eagles settled back in offensively, as Oswald hit Noah Carr on a 16 yard screen pass to push the score to 32-0.  Carr added the PAT run.

Following intermission the Eagles picked back up where they left off, as Carr carried over from 14 yards to move the Eagles to a 38-0 lead less than 2 minutes into the third period.  Sophomore, Ryan Anderson tacked the last score on the board for the Eagles with a 1 yard run early in the fourth period.

Reserves played liberally in the second half.  Cedar Bluffs hit their lone score late in the game on a 44 yard pass on fourth down.

Offensively, the Eagles totaled 440 yards of offense, while holding the Wildcat squad to 133.

Noah Carr carried 9 times for 160 yards and a score.  Lukas Oswald added two scores and 118 yards on 7 carries.  Oswald went 3 of 6 passing for 37 yards and two scores.  Krommenhoek and Carr had touchdown catches.

Defensively, Brogan Jones and Anthony Isom anchored a solid defensive effort wrestling down 14 and 13 Wildcat ball carriers.  Isom also covered two Wildcat fumbles.  Josh Olesen added a recovery as well.

The Eagles have a bye week September 6 and return to action on September 13 at Emerson-Hubbard.

COACHES COMMENTS:  “The team played fairly well for a first game.  We had a few mistakes, penalties and fumbles that we can work on in practice.  Defensively, we played a good game, while the offensive game was good as well excluding the penalties.   We are going to get back to work and fix a few noticeable things, add a few things, and see how we improve to our second game.  Generally, that the second game is a good indicator of how things will eventually go, as things get addressed and cleaned up.  Good job team.”
