Music Boosters Meeting Minutes

Date: May 16, 2017

Time: 7:02-7:40 PM
Location: Allen School, Commons Area


Attendees: Richie Monteith, Linda Roth, Melissa Rahn, Suzy Gonzales, Sara Kumm, Candy Strivens, Libby Green


Absent Officers: Bailey Diediker


Meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm, by Richie Monteith. 


Approval of minutes: approved unanimously


Treasures Report:  We currently have $14,833.00 in our checking, $342.00 in our Savings and $5,005 in a CD gaining $0.43 interest.  Motion passed unanimously.


Band director’s report:  Mr. Lacy was absent at the meeting Melissa Rahn reported:


The first payment for the Alamo Bowl is due in June.  The amount will be between $3,000-$3,500. This payment will come out of the school fundraising account.


Mr. Lacy requested a signup sheet for workers at the street dance on June 10.  Bailey was contacted and would post the following day.


Mr. Lacy stated there would now be a 5 year moratorium on all his music.  This brought up a lot of questions, hopefully this will be covered in a future meeting.


All the meeting attendees agreed they feel 100% secure with Mr. Lacy leading our students to Texas for the Alamo Bowl game in December.


Old Business:


Richie reported a $50 alumni donation and $196 Bob’s Bar coffee money

Melissa reported a $100 donation for the street dance.


Street Dance June 10th.  This will be a partnership with John Koch, owner of Henry’s Bar & Grill.  John has booked the band and will help sponsor the band if needed after we receive donations from area businesses / individuals.  The Booster will receive 100% of the gate.  We will need to do the set up (3:00 PM) and tear down (12:00 AM), as well as have a couple of parents at the gate to check ID’s.   The band will play from 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM.  The band scheduled to play is Saviors & Outlaws. 


Richie as confirmed with Rob Bock about using a couple of flat beds and his building for power hook up.


Cost at the gate is going to be around $10 / per person (needs to be approved at the May meeting)

Sponsorships for the band will be $100.00 will get you 4 tickets into the gate.  $200.00 will get you 4 tickets into the gate and your logo on our Alamo T-shirts.


Bailey was going to print up the posters to be hung up and posted around our community and surrounding areas


Melissa is going to call to reserve to portable toilets for the street dance

Linda is going to call about getting large barrels to hold water as support for the snow fence.

Candy or Sara were going to confirm there was snow fence at the fire hall.


We will also need to visit with Greta Kraemer about snow fence and picnic tables


Melissa is going to type up a letter for the students to have with them to visit with potential sponsors for the street dance.  This will also be posted on the Booster Facebook page.


New Business:           


We had 2 cases of sausage links stored down at the fire hall in the kitchen freezer.  These are now missing. Anyone with information on these please contact one of the booster officers.


We had 2 cases of butter stored at another location and the freezer broke and these were tossed


Community club may want to purchase any leftover candy bars the band members did not sell.  It was unanimously passed they could do that.  Melissa was going to contact Marcia Rastede


Up Coming Fundraisers:

Street Dance – June 10

3. It is a sponsored trip. There will be at least 1 adult per 4 children going.


Next Meeting: June 1, 2017 @ 7:00 PM,  This is a meeting to tie up loose ends for the street dance fundraiser on June 10.
